Everyone, household consumers and businesses, will pay carbon taxes in one form or another. However, by reducing pollution from the energy sector, Romania could restart its chemical fertilizer plants, said Sebastian Niculescu, Senior Corporate Sales Trader at Vertis Environmental Finance.
“The biggest impact on reducing our carbon footprint is in the energy sector and large energy consumers,” said Niculescu, at the Energy Strategy Summit 2024, organized by Energynomics.
He added that these actions contribute to decreasing the need for gas for power generation, thus creating greater resource efficiency.
“Reducing gas costs and carbon emissions would allow us to restart the operations of the chemical fertilizer plants in Romania,” he said.
