Zăvoi Park in Râmnicu Vâlcea hosted over 800 people passionate about sports and nature, who took part in the Trail Run and MTB races within the Oltenia Marathon 2024. In addition, the Oltenia Marathon also includes virtual races, in which over 100 participants run and pedal on routes all over the country to energetically support the social causes of this edition for the greater good.
Through physical and virtual races adapted to different levels of difficulty, the Oltenia Marathon is aimed at sports enthusiasts in nature, regardless of age. The annual event emphasizes the safety of the athletes on the course, but also the responsibility they have for a protected environment when they play sports.
“The Oltenia Marathon is more than a simple sports event. It symbolizes our ongoing commitment to health, community and respect for the environment. In this edition, we do not limit ourselves to encouraging safe physical activity for athletes, but also continue to encourage responsible behavior towards nature. …This responsibility lies within the power of each of us, that’s why we say change starts with us,” says Ondrej Safar, CEO, Evryo.
In order to encourage the practice of outdoor sports, with care for the environment and for those around, the Oltenia Marathon launched Vocea naturii, an audio manifesto through which it aims to make the voice of nature heard among its community. Athletes are invited to listen to nature and its needs, to pay attention to the gestures they can make for the benefit of it and future generations.
The MTB and Trail Run races were also available in the virtual format of the event, for those who want to run and pedal anytime, anywhere. The transmission of proof of race completion was not necessary, the purpose of virtual races being to motivate as many people as possible to exercise, beyond sports performance.
As every year, the total amount collected from the registration fees of the Oltenia Marathon competitors will be doubled by the Evryo Group and donated to three social causes in the local community: Vâlcea County Emergency Hospital, Vâlcea Hospital Friends Association and Vâlcea 1924 Sports Club.
Every person registered in one of the MTB or Trail Run races is a support to support the community.
