Foreign direct investments increased by 21.47% in the first half of this year (H1), to 4.379 billion euros, compared to 3.605 billion euros in the similar period of 2021, according to data from the National Bank of Romania.
“The direct investments of non-residents in Romania totaled 4.379 billion euros (compared to 3.605 million euros in the period January – June 2021), of which equity investments (including the estimated net reinvested profit) totaled a net value of 3.115 million euros, and loans intragroup registered a net value of 1.264 billion euros,” the BNR press release states.
The number of companies with foreign capital newly established in Romania increased, in the first six months of 2022, by 35.1%, compared to the similar period in 2021, to 3,476 units, according to data centralized by the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC), according to Agerpres.
In June 2022, 638 companies with foreign participation in the share capital were registered. Depending on the fields, most were registered in wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repairs (24.29% of the total), in professional, administrative, scientific and technical activities (23.04%) and transport, storage and communications (16.3%).
At the end of June 2022, there were 240,323 companies with foreign participation in the share capital in Romania. The value of the subscribed capital was of 66.609 billion dollars.
The largest number of companies with foreign participation was with investors from Italy, respectively 51,167 (subscribed capital of 3.967 billion dollars), but the highest value of the share capital belongs to Dutch companies, respectively 12.582 billion dollars, in 5,792 companies.
