As a result of the industry lobby and the European Union’s recommendations, the government ceded and gave up the gas price freeze to 68 lei/ MWh for industrial consumers.
“Maintaining the capping of the price of gas and electricity for all households, together with the abandonment of their capping for the industrial consumers following discussions with industry representatives, but also from the European Union,” Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă said yesterday, and the confirmation came today, on behalf of the Energy Minister Anton Anton:
“As we said, we want to protect the household consumer, therefore the regulated price of 68 lei (per MWh – no) to the producer refers to the gas that will be sold to the household consumer and to the CHPs, for the gas part which is for heating, that is, we still protect only the household consumer, “Anton said at a government meeting today.
Thus, the price of gas will remain capped by 2022 only for household consumers – and this is where the problem of defining the vulnerable consumer, as not all consumers need social aid – also for thermal power plants (CHPs).
