Final electricity consumption rose in the first four months of 2021 to 18.817 billion kWh, being 5.2% higher than last year, according to data released Friday by the National Institute of Statistics.

Street lighting decreased by 4.4% and household consumption increased by 10.3%.

Electricity exports were of 2.159 billion kWh, up 183.5 million kWh, while own technological consumption in networks and stations was of 2.299 billion kWh, up 169.3 million kWh.

The main primary energy resources between January 1 and April 30, 2021 totaled 11.231 million tons of oil equivalent (toe), increasing by 540,700 toe compared to January 1 – April 30, 2020.

Domestic production amounted to 6.325 million toe, down 54,500 toe from the last year’s similar period, and imports were of 4.905 million toe.

During this period, electricity resources amounted to 23.276 billion kWh, up 1.285 billion kWh, compared to the corresponding period of 2020.
