The general mayor of the Capital, Gabriela Firea, said that ELCEN is not the only entity able to provide thermal energy in Bucharest.
“If a situation cannot be restored, at least with minimum respect, with ELCEN, if the contractual and commercial conditions will be unfair on the part of ELCEN to RADET, and later to Termoenergetica, we will not accept it and look for alternatives. I believe that ELCEN is not the only entity in the world to provide us with thermal energy to be delivered to the population,” said Firea, according to Agerpres.
She mentioned that the City Hall must ensure the continuity of the supply of hot water and heat. “The largest amounts from the capital budget went to public transport and RADET this year. In about a month, let’s say a normal month in which we are not massively cut by the Ministry of Finance…, we have about 300 million lei, from which 100 million lei goes to STB, 100 million to RADET and we still have 100 million lei to pay the salaries of the employees and to pay all the works from the sites started from the Capital,” said Firea.
The special administrator of RADET, Alexandru Burghiu, announced that at present about 96% of the thermal energy is being purchased from ELCEN, but that may change. “We can announce for the first time that we are currently working on the specifications for the purchase of thermal energy from the market,” added Burghiu.
