The first meeting of the Advisory Council for Sustainable Development took place on Tuesday at Victoria Palace, according to a release of the Romanian Government.
“A day of great significance for the sustainable development of Romania: The Advisory Council meets for the first time and completes the strategic and legislative framework we have been working on for some time to effectively implement the National Strategy for Sustainable Development of Romania 2030. Expertise of each member will be very useful and will help us to consolidate the position of regional leader in this field that Romania has acquired with small but sure steps,” said László Borbély, state counselor, coordinator of the Department for Sustainable Development, within the Government of Romania.
The Advisory Council has 34 members and is a body set up to ensure the contribution and involvement of academic environment, research and civil society in the effective implementation of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development of Romania 2030. At the same time, it has the role of supporting and encouraging the implementation of good practices relevant for Romania, with positive results at European and international level, within the mechanisms of public administrations involved in the process of sustainable development.
The present members of the council elected by vote the president of the entity – Adrian Curaj, the vice-president, Gabriela Drăgan and the secretary of the council, Mihail Cazacu.
