Foreign direct investments in Romania reached 3.138 billion euro in the first half (H1) of 2021, up by 215% compared to the same period last year, when they amounted to 996 billion euro.
“Direct investments of non-residents in Romania amounted to 3.138 billion euro (compared to 996 million euro in January-June 2020), of which equity investments (including estimated net reinvested profit) amounted to a net value of 2.543 billion euro and the intragroup loans registered a net value of 595 million euro,” it is shown in a release of the central bank.
The number of newly established foreign capital companies in Romania increased, in the first six months of 2021, by 53.7%, compared to the similar period of 2020, to 2,573 units, according to data centralized by the National Office of the Trade Register (ONRC) quoted of Agerpres.
The 2,573 new companies had a subscribed share capital in the total amount of 22.429 million USD, almost six times higher than that of the companies registered in January-June 2020, of 3.841 million USD.
In June, 473 companies with foreign participation in the capital were registered. Depending on the fields, most registrations were reported in wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair (29.5% of the total), professional, administrative, scientific and technical activities (22.2%) and transport, storage and communications (13.32%).
At the end of June 2021, in Romania there were 233,549 companies with foreign participation in the share capital. The value of the subscribed capital was of 64.232 billion USD.
