Foreign direct investment increased by 9.7% in the first two months of this year, to 926 million euro, compared to 844 million euro in the similar period of 2021, according to data from the National Bank of Romania.
“Direct investments of non-residents in Romania amounted to 926 million euro (compared to 844 million euro in January-February 2021), of which equity investments (including estimated net reinvested profit) amounted to a net value of 1,182 million euro and intragroup loans registered a negative net value of 256 million euro,” says an NBR release.
The number of newly established foreign capital companies in Romania increased in the first two months of 2022 by 21.7% compared to the same period in 2021, to 977 units, according to data centralized by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC), according to Agerpres.
The 977 new companies had a subscribed share capital in the total amount of 4.666 million dollars, 57.4% lower than that of the companies registered in January-February 2021, of 10.94 million dollars.
At the end of February 2022, in Romania there were 237,824 companies with foreign participation in the share capital. The value of the subscribed capital was of 66.183 billion dollars.
The largest number of companies with foreign participation had investors from Italy, respectively 50,793 (subscribed capital of 3.943 billion dollars), but the highest value of the share capital belongs to Dutch companies, respectively 12.376 billion dollars, in 5,711 companies.
