19 companies and more than 640 people participated in this year’s edition of “Forum: Careers in the Energy Industry”, organized by the Association of Energy and Electrical Engineers – AIEE in partnership with the Faculty of Energetics of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest. From 9 to 15 May, the event included an Open Day at the Faculty of Energetics, company presentations, an exhibition area, workshops and technical visits to inform students and young engineers about the development directions in the field of energy engineering.
They had the opportunity to get to know many companies such as transmission and system operators (Transelectrica), power generation (Nuclearelectrica, Hidroelectrica), energy supply (ENGIE and Monsson), refining and distribution of petroleum products (Rompetrol), manufacturers of energy equipment and solutions (Siemens Energy, Eximprod Grup, Phoenix Contact, Signify, ACE Industrial Software Solutions, Honeywell), general contractors (Electromontaj, Enevo Group, Adrem), developers of photovoltaic projects (VOLT, Heliopolis).
Major players in Romanian energy came to meet the participants with technical and personal development workshops, which aroused the interest of the 230 participants. Siemens Energy, Rompetrol, Nuclearelectrica and Transelectrica were the Gold Partners of the event, which held workshops.
The last two days of the event offered participants the opportunity to gain access to some of the most important locations for energy in the country. On Friday, 13 May 2022, 20 visitors crossed the threshold of the National Energy Dispatcher, having the chance to see the “brains” of the National Energy System at work from the inside. The sixth day of the event, 14 May 2022, found 53 participants at Romania’s largest hydropower plant, Porțile de Fier I. For hydropower enthusiasts, the visit was extra special because Monday, 16 May 2022, marked the 50th anniversary of the plant’s inauguration. The event also included a technical visit to the only nuclear power plant in the country, with Nuclearelectrica opening its doors to 20 participants. They were introduced to the CANDU system, the operation of the nuclear power plant, the role of nuclear energy in the national energy system and visited the Full Scop Simulator.
The event “Forum: Careers in the Energy Industry” proved to be a necessary one, as a response to the growing demand for human resources on the labour market, but also to the need for young people to have an effective exposure to big companies.
