Four companies have produced three-quarters of Romania’s electricity in 2015

Hidroelectrica, Nuclearelectrica, CE Oltenia, and OMV Petrom produced 74,47% ot the entire electricity delivered in 2015, a NARE report shows. Cumulated, 110 companies produced 62,62 TWh, last year, around one percent more than in 2014.

Three state-controlled companies and a private one took almost three-quarters of the market, each representing a distinct primary resource. Hidroelectrica delivered a 27,11% share, and was, beside Nuclearelectrica (18,27%) the core source for regulated consumption. Despite its management hardhip, CE Oltenia is still an essential part of the Romanian energy system, with a share of 23,55% in the final production in 2015. OMV Petrom becomes the fourth biggest electricity producer, 3.46 TWh of electricity produced in 2015, namely 5.7% of Romania’s entire electricity production.

OMV Petrom produces electricity at its 860 MW gas power plant in Brazi. It is one of the 21 electricity producers from traditional sources (hydrocarbs) recorded by NARE. The Austrian Gruop also produces electricity in its wind park in Dobrogea, Dorobanţu. OMV Petrom Wind Power is one of the 53 electricity producers using wind sources operating in 2015, with a total contribution of 11,15% in the total.

In the photovoltaic sector there are 43 producers, with just 1,19% cumulated share in the entire production, while biomass has yet a single representative, Bioenergy Suceava SR, with a share of 0,17%.
