In December 2016, the five most traded shares at the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) were Banca Transilvania (TLV), Fondul Proprietatea (FP), Romgaz (SNG), OMV PETROM (SNP) and BRD – Groupe Societe Generale (BRD), according to BVB’s monthly report.
BVB continued its growth in December 2016, a month when the main BVB indices, BET and BET Total Return (BET-TR), followed an upward trend. The highest growth rate was registered by the BET-TR, which has gained almost 10% in one year and ended 2016 at a level of 8,7591.95 points. The BET-TR index, which reflects the evolution of the most ten liquid shares listed on BVB included in the BET and dividends distributed to shareholders of these companies, increased in the last three years with almost 30%.
At the same time, the average daily equity trading increased last year and exceeded RON 35 mn, thus approaching the level of EUR 8 mn. Furthermore, the total value of transactions with shares on the main segment exceeded for the first time in two years, EUR 2 bn.
At the end of December 2016, the market capitalization of all listed companies on the Bucharest Stock Exchange was RON 146.55 bn, the level corresponding to a figure of over EUR 32 bn. Out of this amount, the market capitalization of Romanian companies was RON 76.34 bn or EUR 16.81 bn.
