Finance Minister Ionuţ Mişa announced on Wednesday, at the beginning of the Government meeting, that excise taxes on fuel will increase in two legs, from September 15 and then from October 1 to 0.16 lei per liter of fuel.
“With regard to excise duties, I have done, Mr. Prime Minister, an analysis. They will grow, as you know,” Mişa said, according to the Government’s website.
He explained that the deadlines were set for September 15 and October 1, on each of these deadlines excise to all three categories of fuel, leaded petrol, unleaded and diesel, will increase by 0.16 lei.
The minister said the increase in excise duty on fuel would be taken in stages, in order to prevent a shock on consumption that could generate price increases.
“This measure takes place in stages so as not to cause a shock to consumption, a shock that can generate price rises, consumption decreases which might affect the state budget,” Mişa said.
