The Ministry of Finance is preparing a 1 billion euros financing scheme for energy efficiency in industry, said Dan Drăgan, Secretary of State at the Energy Ministry.
Now in its development phase, “the scheme aims to help make industrial companies more competitive and productive. The real driver for such investments has to come from other axes, because even our money will run out”, said Drăgan at the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Bucharest” organised by Energynomics together with the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Romania – CCIpR.
He added that the next financing that the Ministry of Energy will provide will not contain so many grants, as the authorities are refocussing on the financial instruments side in collaboration with banks. These new instruments would allow beneficiaries to access “loans with attractive interest rates and guaranteed by the Modernisation Fund”.
Regarding the financing of energy efficiency projects, Drăgan said that the Ministry of Energy is developing a financing scheme dedicated to industry that would no longer have the “limitations” of the NRRP. The funding would also be granted through the Modernisation Fund.
