Fepra Waste Division (FWD), a group of companies established to support companies in the sustainability process, will invest 15 million euro until 2030 to develop the circular economy in Romania, based on a complex sustainable development strategy developed in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Thus, FEPRA consolidates its role as a catalyst of the circular economy in Romania and intends to invest 15 million euro until 2030 with the aim of ensuring the reduction of the impact on the environment for a more sustainable future.

Therefore, FEPRA aims to increase the recycling volume of plastic packaging waste by over 20,000 tons per year and to establish a national network of partners, as well as 50 mixed waste collection centers, with a capacity of collection of over 450 tons of plastic monthly, thus offsetting the emission of approximately 360 tons of CO2 per month, according to Agerpres.

“The circular economy development initiatives planned by FEPRA, one of the most important companies in Romania in the field of packaging waste recycling and recovery, are part of the broad sustainable development strategy for the next seven years, created in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD),” the press release states.

In the last two years, the company went through an extensive strategic planning process, starting from an analysis of the current market landscape and the legislative framework, as well as global trends that will shape the future.

FEPRA’s objectives are to constantly expand the range of services and products offered to current and future customers, to develop its areas of expertise and to create new capacities for waste collection, recycling and reuse. The 15 million euro investment, financed from public and private sources, will significantly contribute to a more sustainable approach to waste management, contributing significantly to the European circular economy.

“Through everything we do, at FEPRA we aim to create a sustainable future, taking into account the fact that progress and consumption are interconnected. Our objective to be a catalyst for the circular economy is a natural step and we are confident that it will contribute to the amplification our customers’ sustainability initiatives through efficient waste collection, recycling and reuse solutions. With the support of the EBRD, we have been able to design a solid strategic plan and a new governance system to enhance our internal capabilities and processes in the coming years, under the leadership of our new management team,” said Ionuţ Georgescu, the founder of FEPRA.

Founded in 2013, Fepra Waste Division (FWD) is one of the most important groups of companies in Romania, dedicated to helping local and international companies to accelerate their sustainability processes, reduce their impact on the environment and make the transition to the circular economy. The FEPRA ecosystem offers a full service approach through FEPRA EPR: implementation of extended producer responsibility, FEPRA Collection: collection and sorting of packaging waste, FEPRA Recycling: PET and glass recycling and Global Innovation Solution: environmental consultancy.
