Eaton is an 18 billion dollars in revenues company with customers and business units in more than 175 countries whose mission is to grant power management, said Gabriel Tache, Country Sales Manager Eaton Romania, at the “Smart cities – efficient buildings, green infrastructure, digitalization” conference, organized by Energynomics. The group has many divisions, including electrical, hydraulic, and aerospace equipment.

In the electric segment, Eaton has a distribution chain for equipment for the protection and power distribution, support equipment, and back-up. “We have solutions for industrial automation, solutions for protection and distribution in the area of potentially explosive environments, as well as an engineering service division,” said Gabriel Tache.

Digitalization is an important factor, enabling better systems management. “More and more applications are emerging as the buildings themselves become energy producers, especially based on photovoltaic panels. Hence, a great challenge in storing this energy,” he added. Eaton’s digital solutions for buildings connect all electrical equipment through a smart solution, so that information can be transferred to management systems, bi-directionally.

The electricity demand will increase by 57% globally, by 2050, and energy management will be very important. The biggest challenge is on the power distributors. The reliability of energy and energy distribution is essential, as the incidents in Texas, which have affected many industries and affected commodity prices, have proved once more.

Energy storage is yet another challenge, and Eaton has solutions to solve these problems through its solutions – inverters or batteries. “There is a great project by Eaton at the Amsterdam Arena, where several MWs were installed in the photovoltaic cells around the stadium. Energy is stored, then used during events. In the long term, such solutions will also ensure the availability of energy on the grid and reduce the pressure that now exists on grid management.”

Another project, carried out together with the French Post Office, included solar PV on the Post Office’s parking stations. The energy is stored and the postal vehicles are then charged with this energy through a management system developed by Eaton.

Eaton’s electrical sector is a global leader with expertise in power protection and distribution; backup and safety power; industrial control and automation; lighting and security systems; structured cabling solutions; solutions for severe and hazardous work environments and engineering services. Thanks to its global solutions, the Eaton channel and digital platform successfully respond to today’s most important power management challenges.

The conference “Smart cities – efficient buildings, green infrastructure, digitalization” was organized by Energynomics, with the support of our partners ABB, ACE Industrial Software, Bjorn Heizung, Claritech, Eaton, EnergoBit, Horvath & Partners, SAS România & Moldova, Wiren.

More than 240 people registered on MyConnector platform to participate in the dialogue.
