The price of gas for the population in the third quarter of the year, with the liberalization of the market, reached 38 lei per MWh at the Romanian Commodity Exchange (BRM), almost half compared to the currently regulated price, according to the quotations published by the stock exchange operator.

The first gas transactions on BRM took place on Friday, based on the gas release program established by the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), in order to liberalize the market from July 1.

Thus, through forward contracts with delivery in the third quarter of this year (July, August and September) a quantity of gas of 61,272 MWh was traded, at the weighted average price of 38.1 lei per MWh. For comparison, the price is 44% lower than the one regulated for the population by GEO 114/2018, respectively 68 lei per MWh, according to Agerpres.

For gas delivered in the fourth quarter of the year, the weighted average price is of 56.9 lei per MWh, at a quantity of 237,728 MWh.

From July 1, the gas market will be completely liberalized, and ANRE has forced producers to sell 30% of their output on the stock exchange, at certain starting prices.
