Romania imported, in the first 11 months of 2024, a quantity of usable natural gas of 1.612 million tons of oil equivalent (toe), 15.7% lower (-313,500 toe) compared to the same period of the previous year, according to data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Domestic natural gas production totaled, in the mentioned period, 6.912 million toe, being 1% higher than that in the period January-November 2023 (+70,300 toe), according to Agerpres.
According to estimates by the National Strategy and Forecast Commission, natural gas production is expected to increase by 1.7% annually until 2027, after a 1.4% increase in 2023.
Thus, in the latest Energy Balance Forecast, production is forecast at 7.675 million tons of oil equivalent for 2024, up 0.6%, 7.79 million toe for 2025 (up 1.5%), 7.907 million toe for 2026 (up 1.5%) and 8.176 million toe for 2027 (up 3.4%).
