The European Commission decided on Thursday to send a motivated additional opinion to Romania because it did not remove the restrictions on gas trade between Member States as foreseen in the EU internal gas market rules. In fact, the EC has taken a step in this gas infringement procedure. The next is suing Romania, according to Hotnews.
On July 2014, the Commission sent a motivated opinion to the Romanian authorities because the country’s national legislation creates barriers to the free movement of goods within the EU’s single market. After assessing recent amendments to the Energy Law adopted by Romania, the Commission found that the obligation to sell natural gas primarily on the Romanian market is maintained, which is therefore a violation of EU law, the Commission shows.
