Russian group Gazprom reduced again, Wednesday, the natural gas deliveries for Romania, with 18% from the level requested by the Romanian part, announced the Department of Energy.

“The reduction announced today by Gazprom for Transgaz is 18% compared to the nominations made by the transmission system operator, based on requests of Romanian beneficiaries”, said in a statement the Department of Energy.

The total volume of Russian gas deliveries in this period is very low, less than 0.2 million cubic meters per day, while the Romanian production is at a level of about 31 million cubic meters per day, according to the quoted source.

The Russian group reduced in early September the gas volumes delivered to some Romanian companies, without offering any explanation. Last week, Gazprom deliveries were lower by 13% compared to planned ones.

Economy Minister, Constantin Niță, said on October 2 that the reduction of 13% does not affect gas demand and “there will be problems,” but avoided saying which is the term for which demand is guaranteed.

“There is no reason for concern, we should start to get used to such situations generated by Gazprom. The imported volumes are very low, and Romania is well prepared to face this winter without people to suffer”, said the Minister for Energy, Răzvan Nicolescu.

Romania currently has stored up to a billion cubic meters more than the legal requirements established by the National Regulatory Authority for Energy, aimed at deposits of about 1.8 billion cubic meters.
