Gazprom: Gas volume in European deposits fell by almost 27% as compared to 2021

Less than a fifth of the volume of gas pumped in the summer season is now filling the European underground depots (UGS), and their total occupancy rate is now 39%, Gazprom reported on the company’s official Telegram channel.

“Less than 20% of the gas pumped in the summer remained in the UGS installations in Europe. According to Gas Infrastructure Europe, on January 29, the volume of active gas in European underground deposits is 27.3% (14.4 billion cubic meters) lower than last year. The general occupancy level of UGS facilities in Europe is 39%,” it is said in the Gazprom post, according to financialintelligence.ro. At the same time, the occupancy rate of underground storage facilities in Germany and France is of 37% and 36%, respectively.

More than 80% of the volume of gas pumped in the summer season has already been withdrawn. On January 29, the withdrawal reached 80.3%, or 38.4 billion cubic meters.

As of January 11, stock levels in European UGS units are at record lows. As of January 29, reserves are already 2.7 billion cubic meters lower than the current minimum.

Occupancy of underground deposits in Ukraine is also at record low levels. As of January 29, it had dropped to 11.5 billion cubic meters, 46.1% (9.8 billion cubic meters) less than last year.
