Gazprom’s natural gas exports outside the former USSR increased by 10.4% annually, to 158.8 billion cubic meters in the first ten months of this year, but the largest percentage increase (272.2%) was registered in the case of deliveries to Romania, shows the data published by the Russian group.
Other countries outside the former USSR where Gazprom exports increased significantly in the first ten months are Turkey (110.4%), Serbia (101.7%) and Germany (23.4%).
“To date, Gazprom’s exports to a number of countries such as Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia have already exceeded the quantities of gas delivered to these countries for the entire period of 2020,” the Russian group said, according to Agerpres.
Also in the first ten months of this year, Gazprom’s gas production increased by 15.8% annually, to 422.6 billion cubic meters.
According to previously published data, the Russian group Gazprom last year exported to Romania a quantity of 962 million cubic meters of natural gas, down by 3.2% compared to 994 million cubic meters in 2019. According to these data, Romania is one among the smallest Gazprom customers in the region, given that last year Hungary imported 8.637 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Gazprom, the Republic of Moldova 3.04 billion cubic meters, Bulgaria 2.28 billion cubic meters and Serbia an amount of 1.346 billion cubic meters.
Romanian companies do not have import contracts concluded directly with Gazprom, but with two intermediary companies: Imex Oil, a subsidiary of the Russian group Conef, and WIEE, a joint venture between Gazprom and the Germans from Wintershall.
