GoodWe, an energy storage and inverter solutions manufacturer listed at the Shanghai Stock Exchange has recently entered the Romanian market, Cyril Escaravage, Senior Sales Manager Utility Scale Projects – GoodWe Europe GmbH, tells Energynomics.
GoodWe has established the local presence a few months ago and is currently looking for new employees in Romania. „We need one or two strong partners in the country,” he says, responding to Energynomics’ questions.
You have decided to enter Romanian market this year. Why Romania?
Romania has a good potential for us, especially since our portfolio is very strong in commercial and industrial storage and hybrid inverters, and that is the main topic for Romania, at the moment.
What is a hybrid inverter?
It is an inverter capable to work with low or high voltage batteries, but you can also have different applications – so it is an all-usage inverter with storage that you can use at night or when you have the need for energy.
How does the storage evolve, we see that everybody is speaking about growing capacities…?
We are moving to bigger capacity inverters for storage. Some of our inverters are moving now to more kilowatts and we also manufacture the batteries to provide everything as a system – so we provide both the inverter and the batteries, manufactured in China. For those who want only the inverters, we have a compatibility with other brands. We have 10 years of performance for the battery systems.
What are your main markets in Europe?
We are very strong in Germany, The Netherlands, Spain and central Europe. Romania has a lot of potential to grow. We entered this market through our usual partners in Europe, and we also directly, through EPCs and developers, top promote our utility-scale solutions. We are interested in developing also the projects.
Are you also interested in other segments?
We target all the segments. I would not say that we are focused on targeting one segment, more than another, we are still exploring, we have appointed our first manager for Romania, a few months ago, so we have a permanent presence into the country and we can support more efficiently our customers. We are looking for more partners. We need one or two strong partners in the country, as our distributors are mostly from abroad.
What are the main drivers for growth?
Energy storage, clearly, and number two is utility scale. We have the full solutions for utility scale – from inverter to conversion for transformer stations. We want to double the size of installation for utility segment in Europe. However, we have a full portfolio and we have the trust of our customers in storage solutions for a very long time.
