The government has approved the tax amnesty proposed by the Ministry of Finance for interest, penalties and other accessories due to taxpayers who will pay the main arrears until December 15, 2020, a measure that will support the business environment hit by the Covid-19 crisis and will have an effect positive on this year’s budget revenues, informs MFP.
According to a statement from the institution, the main benefits of introducing amnesty are the recovery of the economy and overcoming some economic problems of taxpayers, as well as reducing their debts, according to Agerpres.
The approval of the amnesty envisages the collection of outstanding budget obligations on 31 March 2020, as well as budgetary obligations with payment deadlines between 1 April 2020 and 15 December 2020, so that, on the one hand, the cancellation of accessories supports taxpayers who can use liquidity, which provide for the continuation of the activity directly or indirectly affected by the Covid – 19 crisis and allows the cleaning of debt balances, and on the other hand, an increase of revenues to the consolidated general budget is ensured.
The Ministry of Public Finance estimates a positive budgetary impact of up to 2 billion lei.
