Romanian Government approved, in Thursday’s meeting, the update of the emergency plan for the security of natural gas supply in Romania, announced the spokesman of the Cabinet, Mihai Constantin.
He stated that the adopted measures are aimed at securing energy resources and supporting the population to get through the next winter.
“The measures already taken by the government for the winter of 2023-2024 are supplemented from today with new decisions. The executive approved the update of the emergency plan for the security of natural gas supply in Romania. This document is in accordance with European norms and was made based on consultations with the main players on the natural gas market in our country,” said Constantin, during a press conference held at the Victoria Palace, according to Financialintelligence.
In the next government meeting, the measures regarding the level of safety in the operation of the national energy system will be approved. It will also take into account the increasing influence of prosumers in covering consumption at the national level.
“The measures regarding the level of safety in the operation of the national energy system were analyzed and will be approved in the next meeting, and the objectives of the winter program are the evaluation of the country’s electricity consumption between November 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024, to ensure it at parameters of quality and safety in supply, under the conditions of safe and stable operation of the national energy system. For the first time since the Ministry of Energy developed the winter plan, the increasing influence that prosumers have in covering consumption at the national level is also taken into account,” said Mihai Constantin.
