Romanians bought 3,772 green cars in the first seven months of the year, up 3.57% from the same period in 2019, when the number of purchases was of 3,642 units, according to the Association of Car Manufacturers and Importers (APIA) data seen by Agerpres.
As of July 31, 2020, the share of new electric and hybrid cars in the total local car market was of 6.1%, above the level of the previous year, when it was of 3.9%.
According to the data, between January and July 2020, most purchases were recorded in the category of hybrid cars, respectively 2,477 units, but decreased by 11.5%, compared to the first seven months of 2019.
Sales of electric cars increased by 38.6%, to 988 units, while the plug-in sales were of 357 units, up by 115.1%, compared to the reference period.
The specialized statistics reveal that, in the top sales of the full electric cars, after the first seven months, Renault leads – with 285 units, followed by Skoda (213 units), Volkswagen (111), BMW (67), Hyundai (65), Nissan (42), smart and Tesla (31 units each), Peugeot (24) and Mercedes Benz (17).
Also, most hybrid cars sold in Romania, during the analyzed period, were registered by: Toyota – with 2,130 units, Lexus (113), Hyundai (76), Honda (74), Ford (56), Kia (21) and Subaru (7).
