The renewable energy draft law suffered only a minor technical amendment and will be published in the Official Gazette within 10 days. At the same time, the cut of 85% applied to the number of green certificates for major energy companies is incorrect, sources told energynomics.ro.

Yesterday the Minister for Energy, Constantin Nita said that the number of green certificates for large consumers of energy can be reduced by 85%, according to the latest European Commission approval at the year-end.

The statement came after Prime Minister Victor Ponta confirmed that Parliament readopted the green energy law, previously sent back into Parliament by President Traian Basescu.

“The draft law approving Government Emergency Ordinance 57 on renewables suffered only a minor, technical change and will be published before March 31,” said sources.

“Guidelines developed by the European Commission Competition Directorate will be enacted and take effect only from July 1, 2014, after which it will move to the notification of subjects seeking state aid. The figure of 85% is wrong. The adoption process is a difficult and complicated one,” said the same source.
