Greenvolt Next, a company specialized in Distributed Generation and part of the Greenvolt Group, a global leader in the renewable energy sector, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the development and maintenance of a 550 kW photovoltaic system at Centrul Agro Transilvania Cluj SA, covering a third of the annual energy needs and allowing savings of 384,000 euros in 10 years and up to 1.8 million euros in 25 years.
Greenvolt Next entered the local market in the last quarter of 2023, supporting companies in Romania with a new way to generate and consume electricity through customized solutions for photovoltaic systems (roofs, ground, carports), energy efficiency interventions, solar storage and electric mobility, helping to reduce electricity costs, reduce grid dependence and meet decarbonization objectives.
The current project will provide the beneficiary with a photovoltaic system with a capacity of approximately 551.65 kWp, and the PPA financing solution that Greenvolt Next introduced to the Romanian market will allow Centrul Agro Transilvania Cluj SA to have a photovoltaic plant without initial investments, generating clean energy while reducing dependence on the national grid.
The photovoltaic system will cover a third of the company’s energy needs, generating up to 613,000 kWh annually. The contract was signed for a period of 10 years, at a fixed price for the electricity generated, after which the entire photovoltaic installation will become the property of Centrul Agro Transilvania Cluj SA, providing an affordable source of energy for the coming decades.
“We are pleased to see the positive market reaction to the PPA solution we brought. Romania is still heavily dependent on conventional energy resources and, therefore, the transition to renewable energy sources is crucial. We are optimistic about the opportunity for growth and innovation in the country and remain committed to supporting Romanian companies, such as Centrul Agro Transilvania Cluj SA, in achieving significant energy savings, energy independence and reducing their carbon footprint, offering long-term financial predictability, without any investment from the customer. This is a considerable advantage in a market that has not yet reached maturity,” said Filipe Dias, Country Manager Greenvolt Next Romania.
“Both the partnership with Greenvolt Next and the support of the Cluj County Council have allowed us to take an important step and opt for a modern and affordable solution to cover our electricity needs. This project, in which we have great confidence, reduces the environmental impact and optimizes the company’s operational costs in the long term, while bringing additional predictability through the fixed cost of the electricity produced by the photovoltaic system. I believe we have chosen the solution that best meets the needs of our business profile, with an ideal mix between minimal initial investment and significant benefits in the medium and long term,” said the representative of Centrul Agro Transilvania Cluj SA.
In addition to the financial benefits for the company, the project is also an important component of the sustainable energy solutions development plan adopted by the Cluj County Council. This project will contribute to reducing the beneficiary’s carbon footprint by approximately 142 tons of CO2 annually, which is equivalent to the absorption of over 7,000 mature trees.
Currently, Greenvolt Next operates on 12 European markets with a signed capacity of over 450 MWp, over 180 MWp installed and a portfolio of over 2,500 projects, positioning itself as a true pan-European platform for corporate and industrial B2B clients, offering “one-stop-shop” self-consumption solutions.
