Half a million households in Romania will have photovoltaic panels in the next 5 years, given that there are also state-subsidized programs, such as Casa Verde, said Claudia Griech, general manager of E.ON Energie Romania, according to Agerpres.
“If I look at the residential segment, our estimates are that the market will develop in the next 5 years, reaching somewhere around half a million households that will have photovoltaic panels, given that there are also state subsidized programs, such as Casa Verde, nationally. At the moment, especially in the residential segment, we are at the beginning. We finished the year 2023 with a number of about 1,500 photovoltaic panel systems sold by us, but at the same time we have somewhere around 12,000 of prosumers that we serve. However, Casa Verde is a program where we already have 5,000 customers that have selected us and are going to be installed over the course of this year. So we see that there is, for the first time, a demand from the market for energy efficiency solutions,” said Claudia Griech.
Regarding business and municipal clients, the head of E.ON Energie Romania mentioned that last year was concluded with a number of 360 implemented projects.
“We still have about 50 projects under implementation. We are talking about 85 gigawatt-hours of production generated by these systems. So there is certainly interest in energy efficiency. In terms of the thermal power plant market, for example, I would say that there we already have our own park of over 50,000 customers who have chosen this solution to reduce natural gas consumption, to have more efficient consumption. It is a developing market. Let’s not forget the heat pumps that are at the beginning, but I believe that, as long as the photovoltaic panel market develops, heat pumps will somehow come naturally to customers who will produce their own energy, precisely because the most efficient way to use photovoltaic panels is self-consumption and not necessarily to give in the network,” said Claudia Griech.
According to her, approximately 5-10% of the photovoltaic systems sold “will come with a heat pump attachment rate in the next period.”
