Energy independence is the goal pursued by Romania, Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu said, stating that investments from Units 3 and 4 in Cernavoda will be started as soon as possible. On Wednesday he paid a visit to the Piteşti Nuclear Research Institute.
“Energy independence is the goal pursued by Romania, and the government I manage will provide support to all sustainable power generation technologies,” Grindeanu said. ”That is why I want us to start – and we have had several discussions with Minister (of Research, Serban) Valeca in this regard – as soon as possible, the investments at Units 3 and 4 in Cernavoda, where the institute can also deliver equipment, services, technical assistance for assembly as in Units 1 and 2,” said Grindeanu, according to Agerpres .
The Head of the Executive noted that the TRIGA experimental reactor is perfectly functional and generates, in addition to nuclear and scientific safety benefits, 14 MWh of electricity.
