About 1,960 electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars were registered in Romania in the second semester (S2) of 2019, so that their share of total new car registrations increased to 2.2% in the in the second half of the year compared to only 0.9% in the first half, according to a statement from Roland Berger, quoted by Agerpres.
The number of registrations of new pure electric vehicles (EVs) tripled in the second half of 2019, compared to the first six months, reaching over 1,500 units. There was also a significant increase for the registrations of new plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), reaching over 450 units.
At the end of 2019, approximately 400 public charging stations were available, the national infrastructure being constantly growing in the last 24 months, with a rate of approximately 30% each semester. Companies operating in HoReCa and retail are currently leaders in this regard, concentrating more than half of all charging stations.
