In a defining moment for the partnerships between the university environment and the energy sector, Hidroelectrica, the national leader in the production of renewable energy, and the Politehnica University of Timișoara (UPT), one of the most prestigious technical higher education institutions in Romania, signed a Memorandum of Collaboration.
This agreement aims to support research, innovation and training of future generations of specialists in the field of hydropower and energy engineering, thus strengthening the links between education, research and the energy industry.
The signing ceremony took place at the Hidroelectrica headquarters in Bucharest, and the document was signed by Karoly Borbely, CEO of Hidroelectrica and the rector of the Politehnica University of Timișoara, Florin Drăgan. The memorandum emphasizes the commitment of the two institutions to collaborate for the development of the energy field, through multiple directions of action that capitalize on the resources and skills of both organizations.
“This Memorandum represents an important opportunity to strengthen the links between technical education and the energy sector, at a time when the energy transition and sustainable development are becoming essential priorities for our future. We are pleased to collaborate with the Politehnica University of Timișoara to support innovation in hydropower and the training of the new generation of specialists who will contribute to the development of an increasingly efficient and green energy system,” said Karoly Borbely, President of the Hidroelectrica Directorate.
