Hidroelectrica marks the successful completion of the modernization process of ten 110kV electrical stations in SH Hațeg. The investment – in the amount of 12,509,233 lei (without VAT), was carried out by the contractor in a period of 21 months and involved extensive works at the related stations of CHP Clopotiva, CHP Ostrovu Mic, CHP Ostrovu Mare, CHP Cîrnești I , CHP Cîrnești II, CHP Păclișa, CHP Totești I, CHP Totești II, CHP Hațeg and CHP Orlea.
The 110 kV electrical stations are part of the Râul Mare Aval Hydropower Development and were put into operation between 1986 and 1992, having the role of discharging the electrical energy produced by several hydroelectric plants. Over time, their equipment has become obsolete, generating significant maintenance costs and delays in the operation of the associated hydroelectric plants.
The modernization of the stations was carried out in stages, grouped in cascades, to minimize the unavailability of CHE and to avoid energy losses. The works were completed in December 2023, and the commissioning of the ten stations is scheduled for February 14, 2024, after 72 hours of testing.
“We strongly believe that innovation and change are the keys to organizational transformation. Modernization brings significant benefits, representing not only an improvement but also a radical change in approach. By increasing automation, improving the safety and availability of power stations, streamlining and reducing maintenance costs, we focus on a complete transformation. Digitization of processes is essential in this evolution, and this project represents a significant contribution to the operational efficiency and sustainability of the country’s energy infrastructure. In Hidroelectrica, we are dedicated to change for a more sustainable and efficient future”, said Karoly Borbely, CEO, Hidroelectrica.
Modernization brings significant benefits, including increasing the degree of automation, safety and availability of power stations, efficiency, reducing maintenance costs and digitizing processes. The project represents a significant contribution to the operational efficiency and sustainability of the country’s energy infrastructure.
