The shareholders of Hidroelectrica approved today, March 30, in an extraordinary meeting, the sponsorship of a number of seven medical institutions, with emergency units, with the total amount of 10,033,000 lei. The decision was made as a result of the exceptional risk situation for the public health generated by the spread of the new coronavirus, and in the context of the constant increase of the number confirmed infected persons in Romania.
“Supporting Romanian hospitals has just become the number one priority in Hidroelectrica’s sponsorship policy. We all see at this time the pressing needs of the national medical system, of those at the forefront of the battle with the pandemic. We are supporting medics in the exceptional effort they make to heal the sick and protect the vulnerable.
We have heard the call for help and we respond: we know that there is a great need for first aid equipment, protective equipment, cleaning materials, sanitary equipment, disinfectants and other essential items used to protect patients and staff. It’s time to be supportive.
Only united in a common effort and by showing responsibility we can return as soon as possible to the world we knew, to the normality of daily life,” said Bogdan Badea, president of the Hidroelectrica Directorate.
The sponsorship decision, as well as the decisions regarding the allocation of amounts were taken with the unanimity of the votes of the two shareholders, the Romanian state through the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Business Environment and Fondul Proprietatea.
