Hidroelectrica will invest around 140 million lei in UCM Reșița over the next three years, as follows: 109 million lei in 2025, 15.8 million in 2026 and 14.8 million in 2027.

Hidroelectrica has taken over the main assets and operations of UCM Reșița, the oldest industrial unit in Romania, established in 1771, according to a company statement.

“Through this transaction, Hidroelectrica S.A., through UCHM Reșița, acquired all the assets, know-how, ongoing contracts, patents and licenses necessary to continue providing services for the manufacture, rehabilitation and improvement of hydropower units and auxiliary equipment. The acquired portfolio, unique in this part of Europe, is consolidated by the experience of approximately 438 employees, specialized in the production and maintenance of hydropower equipment.

“Hidroelectrica S.A. thus continues the tradition of excellence of UCM Reșița S.A. – the oldest industrial unit in our country and the manufacturer of over 80% of the equipment installed in the hydropower plants in its portfolio.

The company wants to build a new stage of success in the hydropower sector, taking into account the importance of this unit for the local community in Reșița”, company officials claim.

UCM Reșița recorded a turnover of approximately 53 million lei in 2024.

Hidroelectrica is the largest green energy producer in Romania and provides essential technological services for the National Energy System. The company operates 188 plants with a hydropower capacity of approximately 6.4 GW and owns a wind farm in Crucea, with an installed capacity of 108 MW.
