Households’ electricity consumption increased by 8.3% in H1

Final electricity consumption increased by 7% in the first six months of this year (H1), compared to the same period last year, amid an 8.3% increase in population consumption, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics released on Thursday.

“The final electricity consumption in this period was of 27,594 million kWh, 7% higher than in the corresponding period of 2020; public lighting decreased by 4.3% and the consumption of the population increased by 8.3% The export of electricity was of 3,587 million kWh, increasing by 1,037 million kWh, own technological consumption in networks and stations was 3039.4 million kWh, increasing by 186.2 million kWh,” it is shown in the INS release.

Between January and June 2021, primary energy resources increased by 9.1%, and electricity increased by 9.7%, compared to the same period of the previous year.

The main primary energy resources totaled 16.65 million tons of oil equivalent (toe), increasing by 1.39 million toe compared to the period 1.I-30.VI.2020, according to Agerpres.

Domestic production amounted to 9.38 million toe, up 299,400 toe from the same period last year, and imports were of 7.27 million toe.

Electricity resources were of 34.22 billion kWh, up 3.04 billion kWh, compared to the corresponding period of 2020.

Production from thermal power plants was of 10.69 billion kWh, up 1.32 billion kWh (+14.1%). Production from hydropower plants was of 10.5 billion kWh, up 3.11 billion kWh (+42.1%), and that from nuclear power plants was of 5.32 billion kWh, down 645.7 million kWh (-10.8%).

Production from wind power plants in the first six months of the year was of 3.41 billion kWh, down 476.7 million kWh from the same period last year and solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations during this period was of 868.8 million kWh, decreasing by 13.8 million kWh, as compared to the corresponding period of 2020.
