Hungary announces the creation of a new pipeline that will increase the transport capacity from Serbia by 60%, according to the Intelligent Energy Association.

The Hungarian energy regulator MEKH issued at the end of March a favorable decision to build a new natural gas pipeline between Serbia and Hungary. The pipe will have a diameter of 1,200 mm, a length of 15 km and a maximum operating pressure of 75 bar. The initial capacity of the pipeline will be of 6 billion cubic meters per year and will allow the connection between the Hungarian national gas transmission system operated by FGSZ and the new natural gas transit system of Serbia developed by the newly established company Gastrans, the developer and operator of the pipeline Turk Stream in Serbia.

MEKH decision calls on the natural gas operator FGSZ to achieve the objective and put it into operation by October 1, 2021, while providing a technical solution that will allow the further increase of the transport capacity in the direction of Serbia to Hungary according to the demand for gas.
