Hyundai Inster, in the mini category, and Allview CityZEN, in the micro category (16 years), are the best electric city cars in 2025 in Romania, the two models being the main winners of the Best Electric City Car. The event, which is organized by Flote Auto in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests and with the support of Arval Romania, a market leader in the operational leasing solutions industry, aims to bring to the public’s attention a category of cars dedicated to urban use, more precisely electric models in the mini and micro categories.

A specialized jury intensively tested the vehicles entered in the competition over several days, and the public had the opportunity to admire them and vote for them during an exhibition that took place at Bucharest Mall, between April 11 and 13.

The models entered in the competition for the 2025 edition of Best Electric City Car were Citroen e-C3, Dacia Spring, Fiat 500e, Hyundai Inster, Leapmotor T03, Mini Cooper E, Peugeot e-208 and Renault 5 in the mini category, while in the micro category, including electric vehicles that can be driven from the age of 16, Aixam, Allview CityZEN, Microlino and Yoyo XEV participated.

The specialized jury, composed of journalists with experience in the automotive field, tested the participating vehicles in a test that involved driving in urban conditions, at different times and traffic values, taking into account criteria such as consumption, comfort, accessibility, autonomy, easy charging, feeling at the wheel or connectivity with different devices.

“Best Electric City Car is an event that will become a reference in the field and that naturally appeared this year, as a consequence of the development of the urban electric vehicle segment. The first edition was attended by almost all urban models present in the country’s showrooms, and the list of awards is extensive, which shows how extensive the tests they were subjected to were. We tried and I believe we succeeded in offering the public a valuable insight into the advantages that these models have and we established a set of references that will be extremely useful in the purchase decision”, said Florin Micu, CEO of Flote Auto.

Arval Service Lease Romania is the market leader in Romania in the field of operational leasing and fleet management and supports this project as part of the commitment to sustainable mobility taken both at the group level and at that of the activities in Romania: “The category of urban electric vehicles is one in continuous development, with an impressive demand growth rate. Even if these vehicles do not currently fall into the category of those that are part of operational leasing agreements, we do not exclude at all that the market evolution will go in this direction. “The market trends in Romania, specifically identified within the Arval Mobility Observatory, the only study of the domestic segment, show a growing interest in this category. Arval is in the midst of a transition process as we move from an operational leasing company to an integrated mobility services provider and we believe that this category of urban electric vehicles will increasingly gain in popularity and interest,” explained Răzvan Roșculeț, Commercial Director of Arval Service Lease Romania.
