The increase in the number of prosumers puts pressure on the distribution system, given that most prosumers have capacities that far exceed their own consumption, Gabriel Andronache, vice-president of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), said on Tuesday.
“I’m giving you some exact data to understand the impact and the pressure they put on the system. At the end of June, we had 77,683 prosumers supplying and introducing 973 megawatts into the system. At the end of July, we had over 84,000 prosumers who provided 1,063 megawatts, while the new production capacities have not started to be implemented, according to the project given by the Environmental Fund Agency, Casa Verde Photovoltaic. Therefore, we expect a greater increase in the number of prosumers,” said Gabriel Andronache, according to Agerpres.
He emphasized that the prosumers’ projects have a very high capacity, surpassing group 1 from Cernavodă, and soon they will reach a production capacity similar to the two groups from Cernavodă. He explained that prosumers introduce a very large amount of energy into the system that is not seen by the national energy dispatcher and creates pressure on distribution and suppliers, because they cannot determine what the need for energy is at certain times.
“There are many people who have a technical approval for connection (ATR) to consume 12 kilowatts, but install 60 kilowatts. This implementation is not based on a solution study, but on the basis of a solution sheet – and it does not establish exactly what is the impact on the distribution area and it creates a pressure on those who are distributors. We are currently preparing the regulation of this so that those who have a certain capacity will give a certain percentage extra for the installation of production capacity, taking into account the possibility to buy an electric car,” the vice-president of ANRE also said.
According to him, the idea of prosumer is to produce energy for own consumption.
“In the meantime, things have become a small business and people are doing calculations and looking on the phone to see how much money they have theoretically won, and everyone produces energy at the same time, that is, during the day, increasing the pressure on the system. Our role is that in the market there is quantity, quality and an attractive price to help the economy,” Gabriel Andronache also said.
