At the end of January 2023, 40,171 prosumers were registered with a total green capacity of 423 MW (total installed power), ANRE informs. At the same time, by the end of 2023, their number will increase to around 100,000, according to regulatory authority officials.
“In the context of the recent changes made to the regulatory framework for accelerating the connection of prosumers to the network, but also as a result of government support programs regarding the promotion of the production of electricity from renewable sources by prosumers, for the year 2023 we forecast a number of over 100,000 new prosumers,” says Dumitru Chiriță, president of ANRE.
“We encourage institutions that run support programs for the production of electricity from renewable sources, implicitly for prosumers, to consider support schemes for increasing storage capacities to ensure greater flexibility in the operation of distribution networks and a more good balancing of the National Electric Power System.
“Considering the need to increase the production of electricity from renewable sources and the evolution of the number of electricity production capacities installed by prosumers, we will closely monitor the process of connecting prosumers and we will discourage any form of violation of the regulations and legislation in force. At the same time, we took measures regarding the elimination of market access barriers, including by allowing bilateral contracts and creating flexible market instruments.”
