EDP Renewables, the world’s fourth largest producer of renewable energy, made a net profit of 655 million euros in 2021, 18% more than the previous year. The portfolio managed by the company at the end of 2021 amounts to 13.6 GW, of which 12.5 GW are consolidated and 1.1 GW consolidated equity (Spain, Portugal, USA and Offshore).
In 2021, EDPR added 2.58 GW of wind and solar energy capacity, mainly in Europe (682 MW), North America (1,204 MW) and Brazil (359 MW).
As of December 21, EDPR was developing 1.8 GW, of which 1.59 GW onshore wind and 232 MW in solar.
EDPR reported total revenues of 1.758 billion euros in 2021, 2% higher than in the previous year. The impact of additional installed capacity (+198 million euros), together with the higher average selling price (+33 million euros), offset the slightly lower renewable resource (-12 million euros per year), some sales and the unfavorable exchange rate.
As of December 21, the company’s net debt amounted to 2.93 billion euros, reflecting its investment strategy offset by the capital increase received in April and asset turnover.
EDP Renewables is one of the world leaders in the renewable energy sector and the fourth largest producer of renewable energy in the world. EDPR has been present in Romania since in 2008, through the acquisition of several wind projects in different stages of maturity. In 2010 EDPR completed the construction of its first project in Romania – Peștera – totaling 90 MW out of the current 521 MW of installed capacity. In 2013 EDPR’s first Solar Power Plant, with 50 MW, entered in operation in Romania.
