The II. Hungarian Battery Day will be organised on 20 October 2022 in Hotel Marriott Budapest, by the Hungarian Battery Alliance in cooperation with White Paper Consulting to review the opportunities and challenges of the fast-developing Hungarian battery industry. The conference will be organised under the honorary patronage of H.E. Mr Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, who will open the event.
In the past years, the battery industry has become a rapidly expanding sector of the Hungarian economy. In the European Union, Hungary has the largest battery production capacity, and the investment announcements of the past period show that the importance of the industry will increase even further in the future.
The Hungarian government sees a huge potential in the battery industry – as the flagship of the transition of the automotive sector – and its strategic objective is to keep up with the new industry trends by becoming an important player in the battery production value chain.
Batteries are also in the spotlight as they support the green transition. The development of energy storage solutions can greatly contribute to the sustainable transformation of the transport and energy industry bringing us closer to our climate objectives.
The II. Hungarian Battery Day will bring together the leaders of major battery stakeholders as well as high-ranking government and European Union decision-makers to discuss the future of energy storage, the innovation potential of the industry, opportunities for Hungarian businesses to be integrated into the value chain, and the future of e-mobility.
As a unique platform, the Hungarian Battery Day aims to support sectoral cooperation by connecting stakeholders and accelerating international cooperation that will be necessary to deliver on our common climate ambitions.
The conference will be opened by H.E. Mr Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary who will speak about the future of the Hungarian battery industry, its role in driving economic development and growth and the green transition of the Hungarian energy and mobility industries.
Maroš Šefčovič, Vice President of the European Commission and founder of the European Battery Alliance is also among the speakers of the conference who will address Europe’s strategic autonomy in the battery sector in light of the current energy crisis. Thore Sekkenes, Program Director of the European Battery Alliance will present the recent developments of the European battery value chain, while Cillian O’Donoghue, Policy Director at EURELECTRIC – the sector association representing the common interests of the European electricity industry – will speak about the future of electrification and the role of energy storage in a climate-neutral EU.
The II. Hungarian Battery Day will feature top industry stakeholders including CATL, Samsung, MET Group, MVM Group, MOON (Porsche Holding), BMW Group, Kinstellar, Huawei, Alteo, Metal Shredder and many more, who will discuss the challenges and opportunities of the battery industry and share their insights about future of the sector.
