INS: Electricity consumption, down 4.4% on June 30

Domestic energy production decreased, in the first half of 2022, by almost 500,000 tons of oil equivalent (toe), compared to the same period of the previous year, while electricity consumption decreased by 4.4%, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Official statistics reveal that, on June 30, 2022, primary energy resources decreased by 2%, and electricity resources by 5.6%, compared to the same period in 2021.

The main primary energy resources totaled 16.283 million toe, down by 334,100 toe, compared to the first six months of last year, according to Agerpres.

Also, year-on-year domestic production totaled 8.788 million tep, down 499,100 tep, import was 7.495 million tep.

Electricity resources amounted to 32.293 million kWh (-1.927 million kWh).

According to the cited source, production from thermal power plants was of 10.587 billion kWh, down by 111.8 million kWh (-1%), while production from hydropower plants recorded 7.702 billion kWh (-.798 million kWh, -26.7% ), and that from nuclear power plants was 5.194 billion kWh, down by 123.6 million kWh (-2.3%).

At the same time, in the first semester of the current year, the production from wind power plants was 4.009 billion kWh, up by 597 million kWh compared to the same period of the previous year, and the solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations during this period was 954 .3 million kWh, increasing by 85.5 million kWh.

The final consumption of electricity, in the analyzed period, was of 26.372 billion kWh, 4.4% lower compared to the corresponding period of 2021, while the final consumption of electricity in the economy decreased by 3.7%. At the same time, public lighting increased by 12.3%, and population consumption decreased by 7.3%.

Electricity export was 3.078 billion kWh, down by 508.4 million kWh, while own technological consumption in networks and stations was 2.842 billion kWh (-197.1 million kWh).
