The Intelligent Energy Association wants to launch the Consumer Academy project, in the context of the lack of knowledge related to the functioning of the natural gas and electricity market in Romania.

“The liberalized market of natural gas and electricity without informed consumers, encouraged to intervene, supported to negotiate, able to analyze various offers, determined to act responsibly, prudently and without being constrained, will be just another disappointment for the Romanian people,” says AEI.

In the context of the lack of knowledge related to the functioning of the natural gas and electricity market in Romania, but especially in the absence of campaigns for dissemination and education of consumers on how to act in free markets in order to benefit from their advantages, but especially in order to avoid the multiple pitfalls that are found in this free market, the Intelligent Energy Association has carried out a series of consumer information actions.

Between 2015 and 2019, the association’s representatives organized, in 22 localities in Romania, campaigns under the logo “Fair Price for Gas”, with the participation of over 1,200 people who were presented the practical aspects underlying the preparation a gas purchase contract and what are the elements to avoid. Due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2020 the information campaign took place online and included information materials for consumers on the interpretation of invoices, offers from different suppliers or the correct use of the offer comparator made available to all.

Given that the members of the association are campaigning for a fair price for gas and electricity, the Intelligent Energy Association aims to launch the Consumer Academy program, in the form of free courses in which consumers of electricity or natural gas can enroll to prepare consumers to understand energy demand, to choose the best supply, to benefit from fair gas and energy prices, to obtain contractual clauses that benefit them.
