The president of PNL, Florin Cîţu, said today that Romania already has alternative sources to the fuels from Russia to produce energy, one of them being the extraction of coal, and that the offshore law is almost ready.
In this context, he said that most likely, 600 people will be re-employed in the mining sector, to increase capacity in this area:
“Yesterday there was a longer discussion on energy. Last night, the prime minister met with officials from the Oltenia Energy Complex and those from Hunedoara, to restart the capacities that use coal. It is clear that in this complicated situation, the whole of Europe is looking at resources. Romania already had these resources. We will also use our coal, and if we need, we will have to import it. I understand that 300 MW will be added and it seems that we will have to hire people again in the mining sector, which is good news for these people who have suffered,” the PNL president was quoted as saying by RRA.
Florin Cîţu also said that the possibility of starting the operation at Roşia Montană, where there are resources that can be used, a possibility which should be analyzed.
In this context, the PNL leader also announced that the draft offshore law, which unblocks the exploitation of gas in the Black Sea, is almost ready and will pass through the Parliament in the emergency procedure.
Florin Cîţu mentioned that there are companies that immediately after the adoption of the law, will extract gas and put it on the market.
