Iulian Iancu was nominated by PSD to take over the position of vice-president in ANRE, in place of Alexandru Stănescu. Iancu submitted his candidacy today to the Permanent Bureau and will receive the endorsement of the Parliament for this position.
“It is an honor to be nominated by my PSD colleagues for a leadership position in ANRE. The regulator has a number of difficult tasks ahead of it. All I want is to contribute with all my skill, first of all, to Romania’s energy security and at the same time to the relaunch of the country’s energy independence program. I don’t want to talk about my experience in the field, I prefer to show what I can do in this position, through deeds. However, I take this opportunity to make a serious and firm call for responsibility on the part of all those who will inevitably address the subject of my appointment to ANRE. We are going through an extremely complicated context, in which Russia’s totally unprovoked aggression against a sovereign state is turning into a tragedy. The war leaves room for fertile ground for misinformation and manipulation, including in Romania. Unfortunately, we are also in an energy war, and energy prices have reached an unprecedented level – a fact that forces us to show solidarity and unite all Romanians in order to offer solutions and overcome this challenge,” said Iancu, according to financialintelligence.ro.
“In this context, I call for informed and responsible communication, especially from some who have become accustomed to placing me in the sphere of influence of a well-known Russian company. It’s the biggest lie about my name, in a career that is already over 35 years old. In fact, reviewing my professional record during this period has shown that there is no trace of truth in these allegations. I can only regret that I did not pay attention and did not react more strongly when this lie was first thrown on the market with interest, but it is never too late for the truth. Unfortunately, I was forced to prove this untruth by a court decision. Once proven in court, I considered the matter closed.”
Iulian Iancu is a well-known energy expert. From 2004 to 2020 he held the position of deputy, being chairman of the Committee for Industries and Services of the Chamber of Deputies. Currently, Iulian Iancu is the president of CNR-CME World Energy Council, being re-elected in February for a term of another three years.
