United States of America is ready to provide necessary help Romania to secure energy independence and cover resources that currently depend on Russia, said the US Vice President Joe Biden , after discussion with Prime Minister Victor Ponta.

“We talked about cooperation between the US and Romania. USA is committed with a lot of trust to the relationship between the two countries. National and energy security are inseparable in this part of the world. I believe that the European energy market must be safe, diverse and interconnected,” said Biden.

“ We must ensure that Russia will not be able to continue to use its energy resources and the dependence of European countries of these resources as a weapon against any country in the region. For this reason, we believe that the development of the European energy markets highly reliable, diverse and interconnected is the next important step to be initiated by our European colleagues within the wider project of economic integration. Our support is welcome, and we are ready to provide assistance, because we have some expertise in this field, if desired,” the US official said, quoted by Mediafax.

“We are ready to provide the necessary assistance for the development of oil pipelines in Romania,” Biden said during a meeting with Prime Minister Victor Ponta.
