Laurențiu Neculaescu is the new president of the Administration of the Environmental Fund (AFM), thus replacing Lorand Fulop, who lasted at the helm of the institution for only six months.
It is, in fact, the seventh appointment of an AFM president in about less than three years.
“Laurențiu Adrian Neculaescu was appointed president, on Friday, at the Administration of the Environment Fund, by Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă. Congratulations and good luck! I wholeheartedly hope to take the steps initiated for efficiency and transparency further, even to improve them and come up with new ideas.
Personally, I would like to thank you for the trust given 6 months ago, when I was appointed president of the Administration of the Environment Fund,” Fulop wrote on his official page.
“It was a challenging period that we tried to face together. I would like to thank the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests for their support and assistance. I thank the employees of AFM for their teamwork and for the openness, efficiency and professionalism that most of them have shown. And last but not least, I want to thank you for the feedback I received, which showed the direction we need to go, convinced me that I am in the right place to make changes for the better, for a cleaner, healthier environment, for a greener country ,” Fulop also stated.
Fulop’s resignation came after the IT platform was blocked after a few minutes, in the applications for the program dedicated to subsidizing prosumers, the Green House for Photovoltaics, on December 22nd.
“Yes, the way that the launch of the Green House Photovoltaic Program took place today is unacceptable. Our computer system did not cope, although we were assured by the technical partner that everything went well in testing…. The problem is much deeper than what my resignation can solve … Eventually 6 presidents changed in 2 years , but everything else remained the same: application, employees, contracts, etc. However … what is correct and normal: I do it quietly and without being upset. I was wrong and I assume it. Tomorrow we will come back with a statement about the newly-thought solution,” said, at that time, Lorand Fulop.
