The Supervisory Board of E.ON SE has extended the contract of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Leonhard Birnbaum for another five years, until 30 June 2028. Birnbaum has been a member of the Group’s management committee since 2013 and CEO of E.ON since April 2021, the company announced.
“As chairman of the Board of Directors, Leonhard Birnbaum has further enhanced the E.ON Group’s strategy with a clear focus on sustainability, digitalization and growth. He leads E.ON with a sure hand in the current energy crisis and enjoys a lot of trust and esteem among the Supervisory Board, within the Group, as well as among our external political and business partners and among our customers,” said the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Karl-Ludwig Kley.
“We are convinced that he is the right man to lead the Group not only to successfully overcome the enormous short-term challenges together with his team on the Board of Directors, but also to take advantage of the opportunities that will arise for E.ON, as sustainable platform for the energy transition in Europe in the coming years.”
