Romania has transformed from a place dedicated to production into a center of innovation and technology and will play an important role in the transition to green energy and in the competitiveness of the EU, stated the president of the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania), Andreas Lier, at a specialized conference.
“Despite all the challenges, the prospects for Romanian-German economic relations continue to be excellent and I believe that Romania will continue to attract many investments – new themes, such as energy, are increasingly in the center of attention. The motto of the Romanian-German business community, “Consolidating partnerships – Transforming challenges into opportunities”, now also includes the Republic of Moldova”, said Andreas Lier.
According to a press release sent to Agerpres, over 250 participants from Romania, Germany and the Republic of Moldova gathered last week in Berlin, at the initiative of AHK Romania and the German Committee for Eastern Europe, to take part in the Romanian-German economic conference, as well as at the round tables and meetings organized on this occasion.
Thus, high-level representatives of the business and political environment from the three countries showed interest in closer cooperation in areas such as energy, digitalization, research-development and agriculture, considered priorities in the current geopolitical context.
According to the cited source, the chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, and the prime minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, sent video messages supporting the economic cooperation of the three states.
“Our countries are on the way to becoming neutral from a climate point of view, while remaining successful industrialized countries. (…) We strongly support Romania’s accession to the Schengen area, which will give even more impetus to bilateral trade relations. We emphasize strong partnerships and support the Republic of Moldova on its European path,” said the German Chancellor.
He was grateful for the fact that Germany has reliable partners such as Romania and Moldova and expressed his hope that exchanges between these countries will continue to grow. “German investors, especially small and medium-sized companies, need reliable and stable framework conditions for this,” he said.
On the other hand, the chancellor expressed his hope that Romania will accede to the OECD soon, thus becoming even more attractive and facilitating the transfer of know-how.
